Responsible for monitoring all clinical programs, new as well as existing. Review, schedules, and makes recommendations to the Chief Operating Officer for ! changes, additions, etc. The Clinical Director assumes responsibility for assessing, planning, linking, monitoring, and advocating for each person served assigned to the clinicians with specific departments. Develops and conducts programs to provide education for conditions and problems relating to drug and alcohol abuse. Participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning conferences. Responsible for the comprehensive delivery of quality mental health care specific to hospital protocols.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directs and manages the overall psychiatric care and operations for the facility. Serves as chairperson of a variety of committees as they impact the facility or organizations. Advocates for patients of the facility. Provides back up on call duty for the physicians.
  • Ensures effectively management of all case reviews. Ensures the continuous performance improvement practices for the facility as they impact their assigne! d functional areas.
  • Assumes a lead position on establ! ishing and reviewing of clinical policies, procedures, and protocols; JCAHO compliance, state procedures.
  • Directs the overall staff functions for the assigned area. Assumes complete management authority of all positions reporting directly to it.
  • Ensures staff receives continually training to best meeting the needs of the patient. Provides in-service training as needed to other departments.
  • Provides direct psychiatric care to patients when needed including evaluation, psychopharmacologic treatment, psychotherapy, assessment for movement disorders, court evaluations, and discharges. Ensures that all processes are conducted and are in compliance with state and federal regulations, and with age-specific competency and knowledge of patient safety.
  • Is sensitive to cultural diversity issues, treats person served as an individual, and considers the culture of the person served when providing care and treatment.
  • Applies knowledge about ca! re and treatment needs to patients of different ages. Provides individualized care and treatment that is consistent with and sensitive to the age and life span developmental needs of each person served.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements

  • Candidate must possess a valid Florida license to practice medicine or a limited permit and a license from another state or Canada, and certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
  • Seven (7) years of professional experience in providing services to persons with psychiatric disabilities, two years of which must have been at the administrative clinical levelâ€"assistant director or its equivalent.
