Director of Dietary

Location: Houston, Texas

Description: Kingwood Pines Hospital is looking of Director of Dietary right now, this career will be assigned in Texas. For detail informations about this career opportunity please give attention to these descriptions. Kingwood Pines treatment center offers
inpatient treatment, outpatient services, and partial hospitalization
programs for those suffering from psychiatric, behavioral health, or
chemica! l dependency issues. We provide a caring and calm environment
and treat all patients with respect and dignity. Our programs are
able to serve all ages including children, adolescents, adults, and
seniors. Specifically in regards to our inpatient programs, out
treatment center has 116 licensed acute care inpatients beds: 16 for
PICU, 18 for adult psych/16 chemical dependency, 16 for geriatric
care, 16 for adolescent boys, 18 for adolescent girls, and 16 for
children. All of our physicians are board certified in general
psychiatry. In addition we have three board certified physicians in
addiction psychiatry, three in geriatric psychiatry, and two in
forensic psychiatry.

The Director of Dietary, for Kingwood Pines
Hospital, reports to the CFO, and is responsible for the staffing,
operations, planning and development for the Dietary Department.
Provides direction and support to the Food and Nutrition Services staff. Director of Dietary is required to hire and train workers, create budgets and ensure that their facility meets health
and safety code requirements. Maintains provision of safe, high
quality foods by utilizing proper principles of the science of
nutrition to meet the psychological, social and nutritional needs of
the patient and staff. Ensure food and supplies are purchased
within budget and are timely and available for each meal. Utilizes service excellence, safety, infection
control and clinical principles, as applicable, in all areas of the
department operation.

KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Possess knowledge of and maintains State,
Federal, and Joint Commission standards for the
department.
2. Develops short and long range department
plans and programs consistent with departmental and organizational
policies.
3. Develops and conducts training for
departmental employees.
4. Consults with Dietician in writing all menus
served to p! atients and staff and participates in and supervises the
food preparation and clean-up.
5. Works closely with Dietician in counseling of
patients for special diets.
6. Manages food cost and personnel resources to
ensure cost and FTEs meet and do not exceed the annual budget for
department.
7. Maintains and monitors departmental equipment
to ensure cleanliness and that it works
effectively.
8. Maintains a clean and safe environment and
maintains the dietary department to be survey ready at all
times.
9. Initiates and has full responsibility for the
process of purchasing of food, supplies, and equipment for the
department.
10. Establishes and maintains good working relationships within the
facility and outside the facility to deliver quality patient
care.
11. Continually seeks new strategies and menus to meet and exceed
customer expectations to achieve high scores on
surveys.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
Have the ability to reads, write legibly; ability to perform
mathematical problems in order to adjust recipes to achieve desired
results; ability to orally communicate with staff, patients, and the
public courteously; ability to concentrate on task in high traffic
area; ability to meet deadlines and set priorities. Ability to be
flexible in work hours in order to meet patient and organizational
operating needs; ability to operate safely, kitchen tools, machines
and equipment.

EDUCATION :
Culinary Arts Degree or Certification

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

Current Texas
Driver’s License
·
Current certification in
food preparation management issued by City of
Houston

EXPERIENCE :
Minimum of three (3) years dietary management experience,
preferably in a health care facility.

conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical
current and exposure to high heat. Worker may be subject to

Physical

Requirements:
Ability to
climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull,
lift, move about in work area and throughout the facility to
accomplish tasks. Must be able to finger, grasp and feel
objects, performing repetitive motions with wrists, hands and
fingers. Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken word,
conveying information to others in an audible, accurate and prompt
manner. Able to perceive the nature of sounds with or without correction and able to make fine discriminations in sound; able to perceive detail information through oral communication.

Work is
considered medium in nature, requiring occasional exertion of up to
50 pounds of force and 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10
pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move
objects. Must be able to operate kitchen equipment adequately
and safely.
