is currently looking for a
Registered Nurse
(RN) âââ‰â¬Å" Geriatric Psychiatry.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for assigned patients.
Responsible for meeting the Standards of Practice for the Psych unit and managing all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment.
Maintains competency in performing all skills outlined in the Psychiatric Nursing Competency Skills List.
Participates in activities to plan, measure, assess, and improve the quality of patient care. Will participate in nursing meetings, peer review and continuous quality improvement activities.
Responsible for direction of psychiatric emergent care in crisis situation in a calm, knowledgeable man! ner.
Assumes the responsibility of charging unit, as appropriate.
Responsible for delegating staff assignments appropriately.
Maintains clear and respectful communication with patients, family, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
Adheres to and complies with HCA Code of Conduct as part of our Ethics and Compliance program. Attends annual training sessions.
Responsible to know and conform to the Texas Nursing Practice Act and the board's rules and regulations as well as all federal, state, or local laws, rules or regulations affecting the RN's current area of nursing practice.
Responsible to report unsafe nursing practice by an RN which a nurse has reasonable cause to suspect has exposed or is likely to expose a client unnecessarily to risk of harm as a result of failing to provide client care that conforms to the minimum standards of acceptable and prevailing professional practice. The RN should report unsafe pra! ctice conditions or other practitioners to the appropriate authority or! licensing board.
Responsible to clarify any order or treatment regimen that the nurse has reason to believe is inaccurate, non-efficacious or contraindicated by consulting with the appropriate licensed practitioner and notifying the ordering practitioner when the RN makes the decision not to administer the medication or treatment.
Demonstrates appropriate clinical intervention and provide support and education as needed to patients, families and staff.
Performs all nursing functions and procedures in an appropriate and therapeutic manner.
Demonstrates a basic understanding of psychiatric medications and provide medication education to patients and families.
Demonstrates good time management regarding required documentation.
Adheres to all patient and family rights, including confidentiality requirements, and the need to be free of unwarranted restraints and seclusion.
Maintains control narcotics, correctly sign! ing, counting, transfer of keys to Relief and including co-signing of wastage.
Examines physician's orders for clarity, completeness and accuracy. Applies critical thinking skills.
At all times, delivers care that is safe in conjunction with the physician's orders, hospital policy and nursing standards.
Documents restraints, seclusion and major incidents in a conscience and accurate manner prior to the end of shift.
Demonstrates appropriate clinical intervention in managing medical emergencies (i.e., code blue, code gray, increased or decreased blood pressure, increased or decreased blood sugar, seizures).
Qualifications
Qualifications:
One year prior clinical experience in a Psych setting required.
Graduate of accredited school of nursing
Current Texas licensure with State Board of Nurse Examiners.
Current BLS certification.
Demonstrated current clinical competence, as outl! ined in the appropriate orientation checklist.
