There is a faculty position opening for a Neuropsychologist in the Division of Neuropsychology at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple Texas. The Division of Neuropsychology has been part of the Neuroscience Institute for the past four years and has become a well recognized service in the Central Texas area. The Neuroscience Institute jointly comprises all clinical and research neuroscience divisions and departments. The Neuroscience Institute is a fully integrated model that is aided by outstanding, highly skilled support staff and state-of-the-art technology. Through Scott & White’s commitment to patient care, education and research, the dedicated faculty of our institution have built a nationally acclaimed healthcare organization and, for the fourth straight year, Scott & White has been named to the list of the Thompson 100 Top Hospitals in the country. The hospital is also ranked among the top 15 teaching hospitals in the United States and provides residency training in conjunction with the Texas A & M School of Medicine.

The Plummer Movement Disorder Center is a part of the Neuroscience Institute, which includes the Departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, Neurological Research, and Neuropsychology. The Plummer Movement Disorder Center is a nationally recognized center for diagnosis, treatment, and research of movement disorders. The Neuroscience Institute also offers specialized clinics in normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), deep brain stimulation (DBS), and has a rapidly expanding comprehensive Epilepsy Center that is recognized by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers. The Neuroscience Institute is currently comprised of 10 Neurologists, 5 Neurosurgeons, 3 Neuropsychologists, and approximately 20 Neuroscience researchers.

The Division of Neuropsychology is involved with all of the above noted clinics and also performs evaluations of patients who are being considered for advanced surgical treatment of pain. Other populations include dementias, traumatic brain injuries, cerebrovascular accidents, cognitive evaluation of patients with brain neoplasms, and pre-surgical evaluations of patients for Neurosurgical procedures (DBS, epilepsy resections, etc). In addition, the Division serves a developing memory disorders clinic. Our program is rapidly becoming a coveted training site. We provide training opportunities for practicum students from several universities and there is a current active a postdoctoral neuropsychology fellowship that will be accepting an additional fellow for the next training year.

The faculty position will be predominantly clinical; however, there are ample opportunities for collaborative research. The Division of Neuropsychology currently is involved in several Neuroscience research protocols along with research protocols that have been developed within the division.

The successful candidate will be eligible for and obtain licensure in Texas. ABPP-CN certification or eligibility and previous experience with movement disorder populations are highly desirable. All candidates should have a doctorate in psychology and a formal two-year postdoctoral fellowship/residency in Neuropsychology (unless the candidate graduated prior to December 2004). Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Excellent benefits, including continuing education funds.
