Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS) is one of the largest integrated health care systems in the Department of Veterans Affairs and includes facilities in Temple, Waco, and Austin, TX. Community-Based Outpatient Clinics are located in Brownwood, Cedar Park, Palestine, and Bryan-College Station. NO STATE TAXES!!!
This position is located in Waco, Texas. The incumbent will be assigned to Mental Health and Behavioral Medicine (MH&BM) Service, and provide psychiatric services to the Waco site. The primary responsibilities will be in the assessment, management, and coordination of care for individuals with serious mental illnesses, including PTSD, to include acute care on a closed psychiatric inpatient unit, as well as outpatient treatment and services. The incumbent will provide on-call consultation coverage in rotation with the other staff psychiatrists in Waco. The incumbent will be under the supervision of the Chief, MH&BM Service, Waco campus. The incumbent will perform teaching activities and supervision of fellows, residents, and medical students, as available. The incumbent will maintain an academic appointment with the Texas A&M College of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science. Research opportunities are available and encouraged. Interest and expertise in management of chronic, serious mental illnesses is preferred, including an interest in the provision of both pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy. Board certification preferred.
