The Nurse Resident is a registered nurse engaged in a six-month mentor-based program designed to transition the new graduate nurse into professional practice. The mentor for the internship is an experienced highly skilled registered nurse who supports the resident to achieve skills and knowledge to function as a Staff Nurse. By the end of the residency period, the Nurse Resident is responsible for coordinating total nursing care for patients, and participating in the education of patients and family regarding issues relevant to nursing. The Nurse Resident is also responsible for maintaining the standards for professional nursing practice in a clinical setting by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing staff and other clinical staff.
Begin your psychiatric nursing career as an intern with The Menninger Clinic. Work at a nationally ranked hospital and get experience in specialty psychiatric care. The six month Internships are paid. Terms begin in January and July for graduates of BSN programs. Menninger is now accepting applications for the January 2013 group. Learn about the Menninger treatment philosophy, with interdisciplinary perspectives from nursing staff, rehabilitation therapists, chemical dependency counselors, behavior therapists, social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists. 6 MONTH RESIDENCY. FROM: January 2013 to June 2013.
Requirements EDUCATION REQUIRED: Completion of a NLN or CCNE accredited RN program. BSN required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
Current permit to practice as GN at time of hire and license to practice as RN in state of Texas within 6 weeks of hire.
EXPERIENCE:
No experience required. Graduate of BSN program within last 12 months.
