Field-based sales professional responsible for effectively applying promotional and selling strategies to expand Avanir's business opportunities and deliver revenue in! an assigned area and contribute to the achievement of the Company's revenue goals. Provide complex and technical information to ensure awareness and appropriate use of Avanir's products to designated specialty physicians, medical group practices, hospitals and other health care professionals. This position requires the performance of work that is substantially important to the operation of our business, and requires the individual to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in carrying out the job responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide current and comprehensive product and disease state information of the Neurology/Psychiatric market to a broad audience of health care professionals while effectively communicating the clinical profile of Avanir's products.
Develop personal strategy for communicating with healthcare professionals within the company guidelines.
Daily activities include: one-on-one sales prese! ntations to targeted health care professionals including speci! alty physicians; arrangement of group selling programs; provide continuing education and value added services to a wide range of health care professionals; and analyze sales and market trends to effectively identify business opportunities.
Help develop and execute on area business plan to deliver revenue for the Company including, but not limited to, resources utilization, managing metrics, sales to target and call reach and frequency.
Help plan and execute on company-sponsored speakers events by selecting the site, company-trained speaker and assisting with the event logistics.
Provide feedback to management on the company's sales and marketing strategy and on the company's core messages.
Manage and develop area budgets and resources for customer contacts, promotional programs and other miscellaneous external expenditures.
Must be able to leverage resources to optimize area revenue including, but not limited to, brand support, d! igital assets, reimbursement tools, and management.
Successfully complete all training programs and proactively updates scientific knowledge of the Neurology/Psychiatric market.
Initiate communication to update Sales Management on assigned area issues or business opportunities.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all members of the Avanir team including members of Managed Markets, Training, Sales Operations, Medical Affairs, and corporate staff.
Maintain knowledge and understanding of payer mix, reimbursement environment, and distribution in assigned area.
Attendance at conventions and meetings for various physician specialty organizations as required.
Compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations and guidelines as well as the Company s policies and procedures in connection with the performance of the job function, including, but not limited to, the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, the P! rescription Drug Marketing Act, the PhRMA Code related to interactions ! w/healthcare providers, and the Federal Anti-Kickback Statute.
Experience
2+ years of pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical sales experience
Proven and documented track record of sales success in an environment requiring high accountability and maintaining a high level of performance
Experience working independently with direct responsibility for all business in an assigned territory/area/region
Experience with a CNS/Psychiatry related product(s) and specialty customers is strongly preferred
Previous product launch and/or first-in-class experience is preferred
Education
Bachelor's degree is required.
Physical Demands
Field based position, will require business travel including overnight travel. Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
