Location: Mexia, Texas

Description: Texas Department of Family and Protective Services is presently looking of Facility Staff Physician right now, this position will be depute in Texas. Physician II- The Staff physician at the State Center is responsible for the effective delivery of high quality medical services to individuals with intellec! tual disabilities served. Work involves direct delivery of clinical practices and monitoring of medical services, participating in treatment team process, advocate for the medical needs of persons service, and working with the individual's families, Family Nurse Practitioners, and with consultants and community medical providers in other medical specialty areas. This position reports directly to the Medical Director of the State Supported Living Center and works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Essential Job Functions:
Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.

  • Participates in interdisciplinary planning conference and personal support team meetings for individuals that reside at the State Supported Living Center and provides medical information to parents as appropriate.-10%
  • Performs daily routine sick call clinics for assigned uni! ts to include evaluation of illness, injury, and abuse/neglect; rotates on call duties to include nights and weekends.55%

    • Prepares annual medical reports for the residents with complete assessment and yearly objectives and laboratory analysis.-25%
    • Refer and consult with the admitting physician at the local hospital when necessary. 10%
    Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

    Knowledge Skills Abilities:
    List the knowledge, skills, and abilities critical to performance in this position:
    General knowledge of DADS state supported living center system preferred.
    Experience in medical work - practicing medicine.
    Skill to maintain maximu! m well being of individuals on campus and in general when hospitalized.
    Ability to respond to campus medical emergencies as needed and when on-call.
    Ability to communicate with nurses, direct care staff and interdisciplinary team members.
    Ability to work in harmony with individuals, employees, peers, family members, and medical/non-medical professions in the community.

    Registration or Licensure Requirements:
    Graduation from an accredited college of medicine with a degree as a medical doctor. Must be licensed as a medical doctor by the State of Texas. Must have current registration certificates from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the Texas Department of Public Safety Controlled Substance Board. Must possess a National Provider Identifier (NPI#) as defined by Medicare Part B.

    Initial Selection Criteria:
    Medical License in TX, unrestricted
    Board certification or board eligibility in psychiatry
    Unrestricted DEA ! number
    Familiarity with evidence based medication

    Addit! ional Information:
    All applicants must pass: pre-employment drug screen, fingerprint criminal background check, and Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Employee Misconduct Registry and Nurse/Aide Registry checks. Males between the ages of 18 â€" 25 must be registered with the Selective Service.

    All State Supported Living Center employees are subject to Random drug testing.

    Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours.
