Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS) is one of the largest integrated health
care systems in the Department of Veterans Affairs and includes facilities in
Temple, Waco, and Austin, TX. Community-Based Outpatient Clinics are located in
Brownwood, Cedar Park, Palestine, and Bryan-College Station. NO STATE TAXES!!!

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required.
Must pass pre-employment examination.

Must be proficient in written and spoken English DUTIES:
This is a Bargaining Unit Position.

This position is located in Waco, Texas. The incumbent will
be assigned to Mental Health and Behavioral Medicine (MH&BM) Service, and
provide psychiatric services to the Waco
site. The primary responsibilities will be in the assessment, management, and
coordination of care for individuals with serious mental illnesses, including
PTSD, to ! include acute care on a closed psychiatric inpatient unit, as well as
outpatient treatment and services. The incumbent will provide on-call
consultation coverage in rotation with the other staff psychiatrists in Waco.
The incumbent will be under the supervision of the Chief, MH&BM Service,
Waco campus. The incumbent will perform teaching activities and supervision of
fellows, residents, and medical students, as available. The incumbent will
maintain an academic appointment with the Texas A&M College of Medicine
Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science. Research opportunities are
available and encouraged. Interest and expertise in management of chronic,
serious mental illnesses is preferred, including an interest in the provision
of both pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:BASIC REQUIREM ENTS:
Must be a citizen of the United States. (Noncitizens may be
appointed when it is no! t possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance
with VA Hand! book 5005, Part II, Appendix G2, chapter 3, section A, paragraph
3g.)

Must have a degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent
degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic
medicine.

Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required
by 38 U.S.C 7402(d) and 7407(d).

Must have a full and unrestricted license to practice
medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States
or District of Columbia.

Must have completed a first-year residency, or its
equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which
it was completed.

Preferred Experience:
Board certification is preferred.
