MD - Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist

Responsible for the medical care of LSCC patients by providing comprehensive out-patient mental health care. Under the direction of the Medical Director, delivers primary care commensurate with training to patients of LSCC. Delivers care appropriate for an out-patient, primary care community health center with multicultural, multilingual patient population.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Provides examines, diagnoses and treats patients 18 years of age and younger.
- Acts as a consultant on all psychi! atric/behavioral health cases referred by other staff provider! s of LSCC.
- Provides in-service trainings for staff in selected topics in Psychiatry/Behavioral Health as deemed necessary by the Medical Director.
- Completes medical charts after each visit in the electronic medical records system.
- Assures a high quality educational experience for medical students, residents and other individuals in a training role.
- Assists and participates in internal quality control audits.
- Provides quality medical care according to standards established by LSCC.
- Provides supervision to advanced practice nurses in accordance with the LSCC Delegation Protocol/Collaborative Practice Agreement.
- Applies for and obtains staff privileges at community hospitals in the area as recommended/required by LSCC.
- Participates in providing continuity of care including hospital in-patient management as necessary.
- Attends internal and external meetings, workshops, and conferences, and participa! tes on task forces or committees, when necessary and as required.
- Performs all duties and services in full compliance with LSCCâs Quality Standards.
- Actively monitors Behavioral Health service productivity.
- Fulfills established guidelines set in place for provider encounter levels.
- Achieves and maintains LSCC Core Clinical Competencies.
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by Medical Director.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of medicine and allied services commensurate with his/her training.
- Demonstrates a special interest in the area of community medicine.
- Ability to relate to culturally diverse patients and community.
- Ability to recognize and understand the public health, social, and economic factors which impact the overall health of LSCC patients.
- Ability to support LSCC mission and readily serve it! s patient population.
- Maintains a professional manner and appe! arance that contributes to the professional image presented to individuals within and outside of LSCC.
- Ability to work in and support electronic health records environment.
- Ability to travel and work from various clinic locations as necessary.
- Current valid license to practice medicine in the State of Texas.
- Current DPS and DEA certificates.
- Board eligibility in Psychiatry (ABPN) is required; board certification is required within 3 years of achieving initial eligibility.
- Current AHA or ARC BLS required.
- Ability to speak Spanish is strongly preferred
