Financial Specialist will provide the highest quality service possible to all clients, visitors, and staff at Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare. The Financial Specialists will manage the “front door” to all Tri-County Beha vioral Healthcare Services.

The essential functions of the financial specialist will be to:

Provide empathetic guidance, problem solving, support, and assistance to all TCBHC clients.

Serve as a knowledgeable source of accurate information and provide quality internal and external customer service.

Ensure all clients have up to date financial and demographic information in the client database.

Responsible for ensuring that authorizations are obtained prior to services rendered as well as scheduling client appointments, collecting payments, maintaining clinic schedules and answer multi-line telephones in a professional and courteous manner.

Able to work with external and internal groups and teams and have the ability to manage multiple, simultaneous tasks and timelines.

Adapt at interacting with diverse personalities, maintaining a calm and professional demeanor at all times.

Make quick decisions, establi sh priorities and concentrate on detailed information sometimes under stressful conditions.

Demonstrate strong and proven problem-solving skills.

Demonstrate computer application skills.

Maneuver client database quickly and efficiently.

Position may be required to work a rotating schedule. Some evening hours may be required

Minimum Requirements:
Requires High School Diploma or GED

1+ year of experience preferred handling client check-in, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, pre-authorization and collection in a healthcare setting.

Understanding of Mental Health preferred

Excellent communcation skills both spoken and written

Bilingual in Spanish is preferred (Bilingual employee will receive bilingual stipend)

Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, and Medicaid) strongly preferred.

Excellent direct public service/high level customer s ervice experience

Must be able to type 40wpm and pass basic Word and Excel testing

Must have a vaild Texas drivers license and be insurable through Tri-County

Effective January 1, 2016, all Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare campuses are smoke free.

Starting at $27,894/yr
Increase at
6 Mo. to $28,757/yr
9 Mo. to $29,649/yr

Offenses that are not an absolute bar to employment but may be considered a contraindication will also be considered during the pre-employment process. Tri-County will also complete a driver’s license check. All applicants, employees, contractors and volunteers will be checked prior to hire and monthly through the Texas Health and H uman Services Commission Office of the Inspector General (OIG) List of Excluded Individuals. All applicants are required to successfully complete a drug screening and a physical agility test prior to new hire orientation.

Applicants who are selected for a position in the Criminal Justice/Jail Diversion Department, TCOOMMI, and those who provide services to TCOOMMI, i.e., psychiatrists, nurses, etc., must have a Federal background check by fingerprinting through the FBI upon initial hire and annually thereafter.

Applicants who have lived out of state for two or more years from the date of submission of this application must have a Federal background check by fingerprinting through the FBI if they are selected for a position.
