PRIMARY PURPOSE One half time of this position, the psychiatrist is responsible for providing psychiatric assessments through personal interviews, review of records, interviews of third parties, and formal evaluation procedures in order to make/classify an accurate mental health diagnosis, ensuring optimal health by decreasing complications and expediting recovery. As Clinical Director of the AIDs Education Training Center (AETC), will also provide clinical consultation. The other h alf time, the psychiatrist will be performing consults on patients identified to need a psychiatric consult by behavioral health team imbedded in outpatient clinics or the primary care provider.
Education:
- Must have successfully completed an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Medical Association (AMA) approved residency for appropriate specialty.
Experience:
- None required, but a plus if the psychiatrist has a special interest in the medical aspects of psychiatric illness.
Certification/Registration/Licensure:
- Must be currently licensed for the practice of medicine in the State of Texas.
- Must meet and maintain licensing and registration requirements as delineated by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, and Credentialing Policies/Procedures, if any.
- Must have SAMA certification, levels 1-4 or must obtain within 30 days of hire or pla cement into the job. Must have SAMA certification before first clinical orientation shift.
Skills or Special Abilities:
- Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the appropriate specialty practice (e.g. Psychiatry, Family Practice, and Internal Medicine) techniques and treatment processes.
- Must be able to determine objectives, set priorities, and establish and meet target dates.
- Must be able to work effectively with other health care professionals and serve as a resource to the community.
- Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behavior.
