This position is responsible for medically necessary determinations with respect to behavioral health disorders at all levels of care which i! ncludes telephonic peer-to-peer (physician to physician) reviews and telephone reviews with facility UR personnel. Additional duties include reviewing "cases" with Care Management professional staff (case consultation); representing the department with internal and external key stakeholders such as providers, regulatory bodies, members and customers; directing the inclusion of behavioral health expertise at all levels throughout the enterprise, as well as external to HCSC; and accountability for establishing and meeting utilization goals.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1) Doctoral degree (MD or DO);
2) Board certified in psychiatry in good standing;
3) 3 years experience in direct clinical patient care and/or behavioral health care management;
4) Leadership skills;
5) Verbal and written communications skills.
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1) Experience conducting medical necessity reviews and applying accreditation standards;
2) ! Experience in psychiatric consultation and supervising staff; !
3) Willingness to obtain additional state licensure.
