Job Title: Psychiatrist POSITION SUMMARY: The Psychiatrist is responsible for conducting psychiatric examinations, prescribing and monitoring of psychotropic medications, and other consumer/patient related services, and completing associated documentation. Psychiatrist may also provide supervision of Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS â€" PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Statement of Duties % Time Spent Conducts psychiatric examinations and review collateral information of assigned patients in accordance with applicable guidelines.
25 Prescribes psychotropic medications in acc! ordance with the Center's Prescribing Practices Policies and P! rocedures to treat psychiatric illness; order labs in accordance with recommended guidelines 25 Completes physician's certificates or other documentation for involuntary treatment in accordance with applicable laws and the Mental Health Code. 15 Evaluates urgent psychiatrics patients in a competent and timely manner. Complies with commitment laws 100% of the time 10 Complies with Center's EMR requirements as established and modified from time to time. 5 Performs Medicaid Administration Claiming (MAC) Time Study on a quarterly basis, and Participates in the Center's cost containment efforts 5 Responds to patients and families when requested or needed 5 REQUIRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE (CREDENTIALS), EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Minimum requirements Current Texas Physician's permit, Texas Department of Public Safety Controlled Substance Registration Certificate (DPS), and U.S.
Drug Enforcement Agency Substance Registration Certificate (DEA) Must be Board Eligible Completion of! an accredited Psychiatric Residency Program Must apply to be credentialed with all Center contracted payors Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications and EMR systems PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE (CREDENTIALS), EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Preferred requirements Board certification Additional fellowship training.
