Psychiatrist - (Psych) Locum Tenens
StartDate: 07/15/2013Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day
Locums Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychi! atrists to cover for 6 months. Work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm. On-Call is not required but maybe at a later date. Must have a minimum of 6 months experience. Services maybe provided face to face of through tele-health services. Maybe required to provide coverage of other sites such as Hobbs, Big Spring, Odessa, or San Angelo via tele-health. Collaborate with Nurse Practitioner's, Registered Nurses, Psychologists & Social Workers in performing patient evaluations. Care includes examination, general history, evaluation, prescribing medications, diagnosis, treatment, etc. Suicide prevention protocols & completion of clinical reminders (a computer based screening process) is required. Outpatient Care. See approximately 18-22 patients per day. Site uses computerized medical records system. Must have BCLS.

After complet! ing medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a one ye! ar internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
