The Amarillo VA Health Care System is recruiting for a social worker to be the Coordinator for the Housing and Urban Development/VA Supported Housing (HUD/VASH) Program .

in that specific grade. The salary is based on the grade and step approved for the selected candidate.

The HUD/VASH Coordinator coordinates and and monitors services, program development and evaluation. The Coordinator position is a complex leadership position with supervisory and mangement duties across two sites over 100 miles apart. The Coordinator supervises five social workers and has direct accountability for critical performance measures. Is responsible for the complexity quality and effectiveness of advance practice Social Worker services as provided by the funded program including direct social work practice in cases with complex problems. Is responsible for sup! ervision of five social worker/case managers in Amarillo and one social worker/case manager and one Peer support apprentice in Lubbock Outpatient Clinic.
Duties include:
provides case management at program sites as described in the program rules, regulations, and directives. The incumbent utilizes various treatment modalities of individual and group work, casework, community organization, and community outreach activities to alleviate or remove problems that interfere with the program participants' ability to achieve independence.
coordinates care including serving as an advocate on behalf of the veterans to ensure comprehensive service delivery, and linking and referring veterans to the VA Medical Center, VA Regional Offices and/or community agencies.
engages in coordination with community agencies, organizations, and groups to learn of services or resources available for veterans as well as provides current information on services and benefits ! available in the VA for program participants.
complies with crimina! l conflict of interest laws and Executive Branch Standards of conduct so as to avoid conflicts of interest while serving as the Program Manager/Liaison.
participates in Medical Center research by identifying questions and trends that should be studied as a basis toward improving aspects of social service and/or physical or mental health care delivery to veterans as well as devising and carrying out studies designed to test appropriate hypotheses.
participates in the orientation/teaching of graduate social work/nursing students, students of other disciplines, and Medical Center personnel.
independently performs accountability functions: 1) documents all contacts with patients/families in the medical records utilizing paper and/or electronic formats including psychosocial assessments, diagnostics, treatment, progress notes, follow up, and referral; 2) completes statistical, administrative, staffing studies and other reports in accordance with VA Medical Cen! ter

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
a. Citizenship. Be a citizen of the United States.
b. Education. Have a masterÂ's degree in social work [ ] from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
c. Licensure. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the masterÂ's degree level.
d. Physical Requirements. The evaluation of an individualÂ's ability to perform efficiently and without hazard to self or others will encompass a composite consideration of physical, mental, and emotional ability as related to realistic requirements for the duties and responsibilities to be assumed.
e. English Language Proficiency. Social workers must be proficient in spoken and written English.
Social Worker Pro! gram Coordinators and Manager. For Social Worker Program Coordinators, ! grades are determined by the scope of responsibility and the type, size, and complexity of the assignment.
(a) Experience, Education and Licensure. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator or manager must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level . Their experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. They may have certification or other post-masterÂ's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the professional KSAs in subparagraph (b) below.
(b) Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. In-depth knowledge of the program coordinated, and demonstrated knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice gui! delines for the program.
2. Knowledge and skill in management/administration, which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring.
3. Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet multiple deadlines, and evaluate assigned program area(s).
4. Ability to provide training, orientation, consultation and guidance within clinical specialization of practice.
(c) Assignments. The KSAs shown above apply to all Social Worker Program Coordinator grade levels.
1. GS-12 Social Worker Program Coordinators. Program coordinators at the GS-12 grade are administratively responsible for a clinical program providing treatment to patients in a major specialty, such as Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) coordinators, Visual Impairment Services Team (VIST) coordinators, Homeless Veterans Program (HVP) coordinators, Community Nursing Home Program (CNHP) coordinators. They may be the sole practitioner in this specialty at the facility and typically provide d! irect patient care services in the program area. They manage the daily ! operation of the program, develop policies and procedures for program operation, and prepare reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use. They may be responsible for the programÂ's budget.
Preferred qualifications include:
at least two years of experience working with homeless veterans in the HUD/VASH program
at least one year of supervisory experience
solid experience in supervisory and staff development, community networking, contract oversight, data management, understanding of complex systems, comprehensive clinical skills and strong social work leadership skills.
