Please contact Human Resources at this medical center and speak with the Education Debt Reduction Program Coordinator for additional information.DUTIES: Provides psychiatry care for veterans at the Amarillo VA Health Care System, Amarillo, Texas.Admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, provide consultation and perform history and physical examinations to adult patients presenting with mental, behavioral, addictive or emotional disorders, utilizing all forms of psychological and social treatment including medications.Provide consultation with ! physicians in other fields regarding mental, behavioral or emotional disorders, pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, family therapy, behavior modification, consultation to the courts, and emergency psychiatry, as well as, the ordering of diagnostic, laboratory tests, and prescribe medications.Tour of Duty: M-Fdays with on-call dutiesPay will be commensurate with training, experience, and market.Recruitment/Relocation incentive may be authorizedfor a highly qualified applicant.

Required Skills:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: a. Citizenship. Citizenship of the United States.
b. Education. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
c. Licensure and Registration. Current, full and ! unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territ! ory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure.
d. First-Year Residency (Internship). Completed a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.Prefer: Board Certified/Eligible in PsychiatryApplicant's education and length of practice (experience) will be considered by a Compensation Panel in determining the salary of the applicant selected. Relocation/Recruitment incentive MAY be authorized upon review and approval by management.Psychiatry Core Privileges--To be eligible to apply for core privileges in Psychiatry, the following criteria must be met: current certification or active participation in the examination process leading to certification in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American ! Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry; OR, successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or American Osteopathic Association accredited post-graduate training program in psychiatry; OR, be grandfathered in from previous experience, AND, applicants for initial appointment must be able to demonstrate the provision of inpatient, outpatient, or consultative services for at least 200 patients during the past 12 months, or demonstrate successful completion of a hospital-affiliated accredited residency, special clinical fellowship or research.APPLICANTS PLEASE NOTE: Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications.Applicants must, therefore, only report attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
