Lawton Correctional Facility is a medium security facility for adult male inmates which GEO operates for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. Services provided by GEO! include security, programs, food service, and transportation.
Programs offered at the facility include Adult Basic Education (ABE), Pre-GED, GED, Life Skills, Thinking for a Change, Substance Abuse, Cognitive Behavior Program, and vocational courses. The center has a fully staffed medical department, recreation area, and various religious services including an Indian Sweat Lodge.
Located in Lawton, OK - residents enjoy outdoor recreation, museums, art galleries and performing arts. Lawton is the retail and distribution center for the area's cattle, dairy and agricultural industries and home to Ft. Sill (US Army Post).

We are looking for a Staff Psychologist to provide mental health care services in a correctional facility. In your role as a Staff Psychologist, you will be responsible for the evaluation and tr! eatment of inmates with mental, behavioral or emotional disord! ers. You will also use your expertise to help correctional facility staff to learn how to effectively work with inmates who may be experiencing a psychological crisis.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
As a Staff Psychologist, you will serve as an active member of a multidisciplinary treatment team and as part of that team you will provide inmates with a range of mental health services. You will also intervene in crises whenever necessary with the goal of preventing escalation of those crises. It will also be part of your job as a Staff Psychologist to provide correctional facility staff with education on how to recognize mental illness and how to prevent suicides.
Your specific duties as a Staff Psychologist will include:
Evaluating inmates to determine whether they have a mental illness
Diagnosing inmates and determining the nature and extent of their disorders
Developing individual treatment plans
Providing psychotherapy tre! atment services, including both individual and group counseling
Providing in-service education for medical and correctional staff as required, including training staff on crisis intervention techniques
Instructing staff and officers in suicide identification and subsequent prevention techniques
Evaluating detainee/inmate mental status as to the need for transfer
Performing rounds in the segregation unit to determine whether segregated inmates are in need of mental health treatment or intervention
Consulting with other staff regarding mental illness and treatments
Supervising mental health counselors
Determining if somebody needs to be placed on suicide observation status and when they can be removed from that status
Participating in performance improvement activities
Performing administrative duties including keeping accurate records of detainee/inmate contact, documenting all services provided and filling out required reports and analyse! s as required
Consulting with the Physician or Psychiatrist as need! ed to determine the proper health care needs of the detainee/inmate
